
With a powerful blend of vision, integrity, and purpose, Melissa Sgro is the driving force behind Dance Fusion—one of Australia’s most awarded and respected dance studios.
Since founding the studio in 2003, Melissa’s leadership has transformed Dance Fusion into a nationally recognised institution, earning Australian Dance Studio of the Year in 2023 and 2024, Studio Owner of the Year 2025, and induction into the ADEA Hall of Fame for over 20 years of positive impact. In recognition of her leadership beyond the arts, Melissa was also named a 40 Under 40 Business Award recipient, celebrating her influence as a changemaker in education and business.
A highly sought-after competition adjudicator, Melissa is widely respected for her strong advocacy of age-appropriate choreography, safe dance practices, and ethical training environments. Her voice has helped shape industry standards, championing the wellbeing of young dancers while still pursuing artistic excellence.
Holding a Master’s degree in Exercise Physiology, alongside a Bachelor of Sport Science and CSTD Diploma, Melissa brings a science-led, holistic approach to dance education. Her work integrates technical excellence, physical safety, emotional development, and confidence-building—ensuring students are supported as both dancers and people.
Over the past two decades, Melissa has guided and mentored more than 5,000 students, building not just performers, but resilient, empowered young humans. Her legacy is one of leadership, culture, and care—proving that excellence and kindness can, and should, coexist.
