Melissa Sgro

CSTD (Theat), BSc, MSc

Principal & Artistic Director, MELISSA SGRO was trained in Perth under the Commonwealth Society Of Teachers Of Dancing (CSTD) and has enjoyed a busy career performing in dancing competitions, conventions, examinations, musical thetare productions, floorshows & concerts in some of Perth's most prestigious theatres & venues.

Since the age of 4, Melissa has enjoyed the art of dance, in all of its forms, studying in modern jazz, tapping, acrobatics, classical ballet, singing & hip hop. Her energy, commitment & love of entertainment have also provided many opportunities to perform in various musical theatre productions, corporate functions, and to cheerlead for some of Perth's high priority sporting teams.

At age 13, Melissa began to teach children in various styles of dance, of all ages & abilities. Her passion for dance continued to thrive as she began to recognise her skills & past experiences were being 'passed on' to her students.

In 2003, Melissa took over the reins of a small dance school & since then it has grown in leaps & bounds. Dance Fusion regularly competes & excels in various dance competitions around Perth, with their dancers & teams producing exceptional results! With a strong family orientated structure, Melissa believes that the successes of Dance Fusion & accomplishments from her student’s stems from this fun, friendly & family orientated environment.

Melissa has completed all major CSTD examinations gaining outstanding results in theatrical, tapping & classical ballet. She is also a fully qualified CSTD (theatrical) teacher & more recently has graduated from ECU with both a Bachelor of Science (BSc. Sports Science), and a Master of Science (MSc. Exercise Physiology). This knowledge of a developing dancer's anatomy & insight into effectively training their bodies is an invaluable advantage to her students.

As studio owner, Melissa is very proud that DANCE FUSION continues to provide the very best in dance tuition, exceptional results at national competitions, and outstanding annual productions. Moreover, she is totally thrilled to be providing very exciting INTERNATIONAL DANCE OPPORTUNITIES (Disneyland & Hollywood 2010) and the up-coming dance tour (April 2013) to her students.

2012 marks Miss Melissa's 10 year anniversary as Dance Fusion's director.

With over 15 years experience in teaching children to dance and four children of my own, I was blessed with a natural affinity of relating well to children of all ages. I’ve gained so much joy and satisfaction from watching each child I’ve taught blossom with confidence and develop their potential.

Dancing is an expression of life and giving your child the gift of dance will not only improve their memory skills, coimprove co---ordination, posture and fitness but most importantly encourage them to become more confident expressive individuals. I hope you enjoy watching your little star dance just as much as I enjoy teaching them.
