What to wear to class?

1. WHAT SHOULD I WEAR?

·                     While we do not have a strict uniform code, it is expected that students are always dressed to dance.

·                     We do have some very funky uniform items that can be purchased through reception, that we find are well suited to all dance classes. Items include singlet tops, dance pants, shorts & jackets - all displaying our logo.

·                     Students should ALWAYS have their hair tied back neatly & away from the face. Preferably in a bun.

·                     No large/hanging jewellery for safety reasons.

·                     Students should ALWAYS have the correct dance shoes with them at all times. Ballet pumps or jazz shoes for all jazz & acro classes. Tap shoes for all tap classes. Joggers &/or Blochs for hip hop is also acceptable. See "what shoes do I need" below for more details.

·                     Students enrolling in any ballet classes MUST follow the strict dress requirements - leotard (colour of your choice), pink ballet stockings/socks, pink ballet pumps (ballet skirts optional). Hair should ALWAYS be tied in a secure bun. NO JAZZ SHOES. NO PANTS. NO SHORTS. NO PONY TAILS.

2. WHAT SHOES DO I NEED?

·                     "Wiggles & Giggles" & "Petite Performers" jazz & tap classes will require BOTH ballet pumps (or jazz shoes) AND tap shoes. We recommend the camel colour.

·                     "Just 4 Fun" classes will require either ballet pumps (or jazz shoes) AND/OR tap shoes depending on their enrolment. We recommend the camel colour.

·                     U/8, U/10 & U/12 troupe dancers will require camel jazz shoes (with elastics NOT LACES) and/or camel tap shoes. Bloch shoes are not permitted in class.

·                     Senior dancers may wear either jazz shoes or ‘Blochs’ for modern jazz class, & tap shoes for tap class.

·                     Hip Hop students are permitted to wear Bloch shoes, or any joggers/runners of their choice. Comfortable clothing (that is still easy to move in) is recommended.

·                     Acro students must have a pair of jazz shoes/ ballet pumps - but may go bare foot for class. Acro ‘grips’ can also be sewn to the soles of their jazz shoes (by a boot maker) for extra stability & can be worn for both jazz & acrobats.

·                     The “Ballet Boutique” (on Walter Rd), located next to Sizzlers can help you with all your dancing shoe needs.

·                     Dance Fusion does have a small selection of second hand shoes available to their students if you wish to try here first.

·                     Parents, please write your child's name on (the inside) of all their dance shoes. Particularly for preschooler & junior students.

Dancing Etiquette

Please ensure that your child is punctual to all classes & dressed appropriately.

  • If your child is to be absent from class, please advise the studio via phone BEFORE that class is due to start.
  • Students arriving late may be asked to wait outside in the foyer until their teacher is ready to collect them.
  • Only ‘Fusion Dancers’ are permitted in the studio during class time.  Parents are welcome to wait in the foyer for a tea/coffee & a friendly chat :)
  • Parents, if you require a moment to speak to Miss Melissa, please do so quickly BEFORE class commences, or schedule a more convenient time with the front desk.
  • Should your child wish to change their enrolment status it would be appreciated if you could notify us in writing BEFORE the end of the current term. Failure to do so may result in additional charges, until such confirmation has been received.
  • All enquires or problems are to be directed to the Principal, Miss Melissa, or to front desk ONLY.
  • Gossiping of any kind will not be tolerated. We are very proud of the friendly, family orientated environment that surrounds our students, let’s keep it that way.
